About the Bins:

Are the containers water proof?
Our containers have a one piece bottom and four sides. The top of the crates consist of two piece, interlocking lids, making our bins significantly water resistant. If you're concerned about your belongings, we assure you they'll remain dry in the rain, sleet, or snow during pick up or delivery.
Can I buy crates?
Yes, our crates are for sale and can be purchased if:
1. You order them in advance.
2. You want to keep them after your storage is returned.

Pricing on our industrial crates is $25.00 each.
How can I secure my crates?
When we drop off your supplies, we will drop off ties that will secure the lid of the container. (Don't worry, we will have more during pick up if needed). These ties keep the lids securely closed.

If you'd like to lock your crates, you can attach a thin cable lock through the same holes as the cable ties.
How do I mark my crates?
We've done it for you already. Each crate has a unique ID that is assigned to it. The ID is branded onto each crate and can't be removed. This ID is how we track the crates in our warehouse.

We also have a clear vinyl pouch on the crate in which you can put your name or any notes to yourself.
What are your containers made of?
Our containers are made of 15% recycled, high quality, reinforced plastic.

These bins are rugged and strong enough to protect our customers' personal belongings.

General Questions:

Do you deliver on weekends?
To accommodate your schedule, we do deliver on Saturday & Sunday between 10 am - 4 pm.
Do you have different size boxes available? If so, what are the sizes?
All of our boxes are the largest standard size or 27" x 17" x 12". These boxes are very manageable and not very heavy. If you need a different size box, we'll work with you as best as we can to meet your needs.
Do you store all kinds of items (furniture, equipment, books, clothes, etc.)?
We store everything: from your grandmother's wedding shoes to your 10-piece sectional couch. We accommodate all types of storage needs. Large and small.

Note: Unfortunately, we cannot store RVs and motorboats at this time.
How do I get the crates?
During sign up, you will select a date for the drop off of your crates. We will then drop off the requested number of crates on your delivery date, though we often bring more in case you need them.

Our drop off times are:
Monday 6 pm - 10 pm
Wednesday 6 pm - 10 pm
Thursday 6 pm - 10 pm
Saturday 10 am - 4 pm
Sunday 10 am - 4 pm

How far in advance do I need to reserve storage usage?
We can meet your requests within 48 hours. But the more advance notice you are able to give us, the better we're able to accommodate your exact needs.
How is your company different from other storage companies?
We are the only company that picks up and delivers your storage items to your home. There are no sketchy places to go to or high storage costs.

Additionally, we are locally owned. Our owner, Matt Mandell, has lived in D.C. since 2000. This gives us a unique understanding of the storage and moving needs of our urban customers.

Also, at SimpleStorage, we believe that all storage is not created equal. That's why we work with each individual customer to customize a storage plan that best suits their needs.

How soon can you deliver my boxes?
We can deliver your things within 24 hours.
Will you load and unload my boxes for me?
We do not pack the boxes for you, but we definitely do all the heavy lifting for our customers.

Security Questions:

Can anybody drive onto the property, or do you need a PIN or access code?
A numerical passcode is required to enter our facility. Inside the warehouse, each smaller unit contains between 100 and 500 crates. These are secured with key locks.

Access to the facility and the storage units is strictly controlled and monitored.
Can I pick up my own crates from your warehouse?
To protect the security and privacy of our customers' items, we cannot allow other customers to pick up their crates at our warehouse facility. In some cases, however, we can deliver your items the same day as your pick up request.

If you move out of the area, we can secure and ship crates via UPS for an additional shipping fee plus the cost of each bin. For a more specific quote, please call or email us with the destination zip code and the speed of service you are looking to use.
Do I have to be home when you deliver my things to my house?
We have no problem leaving your boxes with the concierge or front desk of your building. We can also leave it at the doorstep of a private home. But if no one is there at the appointed delivery time, we will request written confirmation from you stating that you will take full responsibility for any damage or theft.
What if I need access to my containers while they are in storage?
In order to protect the security of our storage units, we do not offer a customer pick up option. If you need to access your things while they are in storage, we can deliver them to you given 48 hours advance notice.

Billing Questions:

Are there any hidden charges?
No. Our costs are listed right on our pricing page.

Can I buy boxes and other packaging materials from your company?
We do offer packing materials, however, they are not yet in stock. We anticipate their arrival in early 2011. We will provide bubble wrap, paper, peanuts, and cable ties along with the crates once they arrive.

If you'd like, you also have the option of buying our sturdy, plastic crates. Please note, though, that there is a charge for not returning the crates.
Can I pay my bills online?
Yes. Our estimated time for launching the online form is August 2011. You'll be able to pay your bills online then through a secured page.
Do you prorate for unused time?
SimpleStorage bills monthly and does not refund for unused time. Unfortunately, the time and cost of prorating would force us to increase our pricing, and we don't want to do that.
How can I make a payment?
You have two options for making a payment:

1. By phone at (202)-630-6404 during office hours, which are Mon - Fri: 10 am - 6 pm.
2. By submitting your billing information on our secure Contact Us page when you sign up.

If any of your billing information changes, please let us know as soon as you can so that we can avoid confusion with your payment.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Expresss.

To protect our drivers, we don't accept cash.
Is there a delivery fee?
Yes.

If we are given less than 48 hours advance notice, the charge is $48.

If we have more than 48 hours advance notice, the charge is $25.
Is there an insurance fee for my items in storage?
At this point in time, no insurance companies offer insurance coverage that we find comprehensive enough to sell. The reality is that most moving insurance only covers items in the event of catastrophic loss and disclaims most of the issues customers encounter. This is primarily because crates are packed by their owners, and we don't know what is inside or how it has been packed.

Because we can't find a sufficient coverage plan that we'd sell to our own spouses or family, we won't sell it to our customers either. But most renters' and homeowners' policies cover 10% of the value of offsite items. This is usually a free benefit, which would mean your items are already covered.**

We do have and maintain a Bailey's Policy for items that are in our care, custody, and control. This serves as a master policy, protecting you against loss.

**This is only true if you maintain an insurance policy with an outside carrier. ConvenientCloset and it's affiliates can not make guarantees about your insurance policy.
What day is my storage rent for my crates due?
Storage fees are due starting the date we drop off your empty crates until the date that we pick up your empty crates after delivery.

If you are not ready for us to pick up your crates within the standard two week drop off period, we will charge for all crates for that month--unless we hear from you in advance. We try to be reasonable and to accommodate any requests or personal situations.
